Lisa Baylis

Lisa has been sharing well-being strategies for the last 20 years. A natural-born connector with an innate ability to make people feel valued and heard, she is a teacher, a counsellor, a speaker, and a mother. Lisa is a published author of Self-Compassion for Educators as well as, the creator of the AWE Method — Awakening the Wellbeing for Educators — which merges self-care, mindfulness, and self-compassion.

Dr Karen Bluth

Karen is Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina, and a research fellow Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute, where she conducts research on self-compassion and its influences on the emotional wellbeing of teens. Dr. Bluth is a certified instructor of Mindful Self-Compassion, co-creator of the curriculum Mindful Self-Compassion for Teens, Embracing Your Life, the adaptation of Mindful Self-Compassion for young adults, and one of the creators of Self-Compassion for Educators, a self-compassion program offered through Mindful Schools.

Prof Frances Maratos

Frances Maratos is Professor of Psychology and Affective Science at the University of Derby. Her research within the field of Emotion Science has contributed to understanding psychological, neurological, cognitive and physiological correlates of emotional wellbeing. This included anxiety, pain, eating disorders, processes of threat and self-criticism, and the use of compassion to promote better emotion-regulation, wellbeing and prosocial behaviours across various populations. Over the past 15 years+ , she has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers in these areas and has been involved in the award of circa £1.3 million in grant applications. In example, this includes ‘Compassion in Education’ applied research she leads on globally, and research focused on understanding self-critical rumination, self-reassurance, and suicidal thoughts/behaviour in youth with Brown University, USA, for whom she serves as an external expert. Frances has also served as a consultant on UK ‘Mindfulness Initiative Education Strategy’ policy.

Jamie Lynn Tatera

Jamie is an educator with a passion for helping children and their caregivers become more self-compassionate. She has taught mindfulness and self-compassion to children ages 3-18 in diverse schools as well as aspiring teachers in UW-Milwaukee's School of Education. Jamie Lynn has created a parent-child adaptation of the Mindful Self-Compassion program and is a Self-Compassion for Children and Caregivers teacher trainer. She also authors books and collaborates with researchers to increase awareness and accessibility of the life-transforming power of self-compassion.

Kathryn Waddington

Kathryn is a Chartered Psychologist, Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and Reader in Work and Organizational Psychology at the University of Westminster. She is author of the groundbreaking 2021 book Towards a Compassionate University.
