The Charter for Compassion
Launched in February 2009 the Charter for Compassion provides an umbrella for people to engage in collaborative partnerships for compassion worldwide. Their mission is to bring to life the principles articulated in the Charter for Compassion through concrete, practical action across a range of sectors.
Compassionate Cities
Over 121 City governments have already signed and affirmed the Charter for Compassion as a Compassionate City. In some cases, these cities have adopted the Charter for Compassion as it is written, in other cities, the Charter has been changed to include working relationships of citizens with the governing entity.
Sectors
The Charter facilitates 12 sectors which organize to spread knowledge of compassion and how it applies to their particular area of work. The sectors include Restorative Justice, Gender, and Religion.
Training
The Charter offers three core trainings in The Essence of Compassion, the Charter in Action, and the Science of Compassion as well as numerous on-demand and specific trainings.
Events
The Charter for Compassion host a range of events including Global Reads, Communi-Tea, Sangha, and Kitchen Table Chats. They also organize online discussions, panels, and practices. See more of their events here.
