Compassion Connectors program launched in Tanzania

The Compassion Connectors in Tanzania held their first official session on July 17, 2024. This marked a significant milestone for the Global Compassion Coalition. The virtual meeting brought together connectors from various regions of Tanzania and a guest from the USA to discuss strategies, roles, and the implementation of GCC’s mission in the country.

The session commenced with an engaging discussion on the core mission and values of the Global Compassion Coalition. Each connector shared their understanding of GCC, emphasizing the importance of accurately representing the coalition’s objectives within their communities. To ensure a unified message, the participants were assigned to review a video resource provided by the GCC headquarters.

The meeting was attended by six dedicated connectors from different regions of Tanzania: Kassim Abdul (Session Chairman) from Mwanza, Emilian Emmanuel from Mbeya, Solomon Chareles from Dar es Salaam, Khamis Nassor from Dar es Salaam, Lilian Mbuni from Dar es Salaam, and Justine Damiano from Kigoma. Additionally, Lawrence, a guest from the USA, participated in the session, providing valuable insights and support. Abinery Ayubu from Simiyu was unable to attend due to connectivity issues.

One of the primary objectives of the session was to outline the duties and functions of the Connectors. The group discussed the importance of transitioning from individual community service to collaborative projects that address broader regional needs. This strategic approach aims to enhance the impact of their efforts and foster sustainable development across Tanzania.

The connectors outlined several key strategies for effectively implementing GCC’s mission in Tanzania. They discussed the best methods for introducing GCC to Tanzanian communities, considering local procedures and regulations. Experienced connectors were tasked with spearheading this initiative, with support from the GCC headquarters. To facilitate efficient operations, the connectors proposed establishing a head office in Dar es Salaam. This hub will serve as the central point for both online and face-to-face sessions, ensuring continuous collaboration despite geographical distances. Emilian Emmanuel was appointed as the coordinator for the Tanzanian connectors, with Kassim Abdul as his assistant. This leadership structure remains flexible to incorporate guidance from GCC headquarters and adapt to evolving needs.

The session concluded with a unanimous agreement on the importance of integrity and active community engagement. Each connector committed to identifying themselves within their communities and working transparently to support sustainable development initiatives under the GCC framework.

The first session of the Compassion Connectors in Tanzania set a robust foundation for future activities. By establishing clear roles, strategies, and leadership, the connectors are poised to make a meaningful impact in their communities. Their dedication and collaborative spirit reflect the core values of the Global Compassion Coalition, promising a future of compassion-driven development in Tanzania.
