Dent Gitchel

Background

Dent is a long-term meditator, educator, and mental health professional with a deep interest in compassion cultivation. Beginning with Tibetan Buddhism, his practice has expanded into secular and mental health-based approaches. Dent was part of the first cohort certified in Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT).

About the Project

Dent led two Compassion Corp initiatives:

1. CCT for social advocates.

2. CCT for clergy.

These initiatives targeted frontline helpers—social workers, clergy, and professionals—who encounter extensive suffering in their work and strive to alleviate it. The projects affirm human dignity, kindness, and resilience, fostering human flourishing.

The People

Participants included clergy, social workers, and professionals actively engaged in social justice initiatives.

The Impact

The classes helped participants cultivate a sense of community, resilience, and compassion. They fostered courage, strength, and the ability to view others through the lens of shared humanity.
