Background

A nurse and project manager with the Brazilian Teaching and Community Support Institute, the facilitator is also a CBCT teacher, researcher, and PhD student at UNIFESP. They are part of the Sidarta Institute’s Contemplative Science department and have a passion for life as it unfolds.

About the Project

The project aims to nurture compassionate care in Parelheiros, on the outskirts of São Paulo, starting from pregnancy. By fostering a culture of well-being, love, and security, the initiative promotes compassionate meditation, self-care, and community development. The program extends to mothers, fathers, caregivers, and teachers, with a focus on emotional and ethical growth.

The People

Thais Oliveira, a young Black woman raised in a violent environment, works as a volunteer in social projects. She emphasizes that self-compassion is a pathway to internal transformation, helping individuals heal themselves and bring positive change to violent scenarios.

The Impact

The initiative has strengthened care communities, improving emotional, social, and ethical literacy. Women have particularly benefited, applying these skills at home and in the workplace.
