Youth donate supplies to help prisoner education

On 16 August 2024, Compassion Connectors Nigeria organized for donations to be made to a prison in the south of the country so that prisoners held there can continue their education.

The event included donations being made by two of the youngest Connectors in the coalition, Kamsi and Ifunanya, who both donated exercise books and pens to the School Center at Umuahia Custodial Centre.

These donations will help prisoners continue their enrollment in the Connectors Prison Project led by Uwalaka Uchechukwu.

Uwalaka was particularly keen to see youth involved in the project in the hope that it could help educate them in compassionate values from an early stage. With many prejudices existing about individuals in prison, Uwalaka hoped to demonstrate an act of common humanity and the importance of dignity.

The donations were warmly received by Mr Samuel Anyaghara, the Deputy Controller of Corrections in charge of the Custodial Centre.
